Artist Statement

This series is inspired by American feminist pop culture icons—women who have challenged norms, claimed space, and shaped cultural consciousness. Each figure I portray is a pioneer, redefining feminine identity in her own era.

Above each figure, a diamond spill serves as a coronation—a symbolic crowning that honors her unique purity, power, and worth. I incorporate gold and luminous accents drawn from traditional religious iconography, referencing saints, angels, Jesus, and Mary. By fusing pop culture and sacred symbolism, I elevate these women to divine status—reframing

female icons as modern-day deities and reclaiming visual power in the process.

Each piece in this series begins as a hand-drawn black line illustration on 24" x 18" paper. I photograph and upload the drawing into Photoshop, where I apply digital effects to prepare it for print. The final image is reproduced as a 16" x 12" giclée on 120 lb. watercolor paper. While the original linework is digitally preserved—making this body of work an unlimited edition—each giclée is hand-painted individually. Through color, texture, and human touch, no two pieces are ever the same.
